When one day AR glasses become as ubiquitous as smart phones under shared platforms like Android/iOS, AR face/cloth filters could supplement or even replace our physical makeup and attire, as already happening with virtual cameras during virtual meetings that I have been experimenting with recently.

Beach chairs cloth bag dream
I was sitting alone among rows and columns of chairs on a beach, with only a sling bag of cloth with me. The sky was grey, the air had a gentle breeze, and I felt very calm.

Corn and cigarette
I did this quick motion experiment while working on a Fresco prototype, inspired by this source image.

Akai bohshi
The lady in this (oil?) painting on a cookie box looks like a guy to me, so I set out to show you what I see via photoshop.
(I guess I was bored enough to actually do this.)

Dream recording
After a semi wake-up earlier this morning I recalled a lot of interesting thoughts going on during my dream, including two research ideas (one shared with my collaborator right before writing this and another needing more thinking), a visual image of an abstract cabinet drawer, and a scene of my mother at a bus stop seeing me off to a military service.
At that moment, I pondered whether I should write these down with potential sleep disruption or continue lying down with potential risk of forgetting everything later.
Apparently this pondering made enough imprint in my memory so that, even after opting for the latter, I could still recall everything.
PS:
Most of my ideas came from my day/night dreams, apparently during relaxed rational inhibition.
Thus I always try to keep healthy and consider stress a risk factor for both my life and work.

Mindful drawing
After 30+ timed-model-drawing sessions my sketches still have only forms but not actions/gestures, which I realized is caused by mimicking what I see but without really understanding.
Specifically, the first lesson of my first drawing training is to draw exactly what I see so that the mind won’t get in the way, but now I need to get my mind back into the process.
(I was so frustrated that I did a few visceral physical drawings for mental balance.)
The quote “you draw with your mind not your hand” from the Vilppu drawing manual (which is a great book not just for drawing) reminded me of what Stephen King said in the gunslinger:
I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I aim with my eye.I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I shoot with my mind.I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father.
I kill with my heart.

Beauty and difficulty
After going through a diverse set of models in the Vilppu drawing series (# 22 at this moment), I found that I tend to draw uglier subjects better, probably because I could loosen up more without feeling the constraints of drawing a beautiful subject well.

Pig
I am always fascinated by, but do not yet have the patience and/or skill to create satisfactory pencil drawings.

Copying form versus depicting gesture
I started learning drawing by copying forms as what I saw, which turned out to be very different from extracting the underlying gestures. I can comprehend the latter in concept but have kept doing the former in practice. Much thinking and practice lie ahead.
