Chairs-and-tables puzzle dream
I dreamed about this math/algorithm puzzle earlier this morning.
There are N tables and M chairs on an infinite plane for a class, which consists of group discussions and individual works.
During the group discussions, each student can move his/her chair towards a table.
When the discussions are over, each student will need to move his/her chair to an individual table without sharing with other students.
What is the optimal transport for this transition from a given group discussion configuration to an individual work arrangement?

The feeling of predestination
[I thought about this earlier this morning during a dream, which I happened to wake up and managed to memorize.]
Do you ever have the feeling of predestination, of meeting someone, being in some place, or going through some events?
I wonder if that is some kind of mental post-processing that tries to fit a narrative to a past event.

Dream recording
After a semi wake-up earlier this morning I recalled a lot of interesting thoughts going on during my dream, including two research ideas (one shared with my collaborator right before writing this and another needing more thinking), a visual image of an abstract cabinet drawer, and a scene of my mother at a bus stop seeing me off to a military service.
At that moment, I pondered whether I should write these down with potential sleep disruption or continue lying down with potential risk of forgetting everything later.
Apparently this pondering made enough imprint in my memory so that, even after opting for the latter, I could still recall everything.
PS:
Most of my ideas came from my day/night dreams, apparently during relaxed rational inhibition.
Thus I always try to keep healthy and consider stress a risk factor for both my life and work.
