I have seen a few cases that when the weather was cold in San Francisco, street folks stationed their bodies on top of manhole covers for warmth.

Sinkhole tasks
Certain activities tend to drag me in and hard to get out, such as debugging and prototyping. To avoid crowding out other tasks, I try to schedule these sinkholes later in the day and start with these that I might skip over.
This is an orthogonal dimension with respect to the importance x urgency matrix.

After a circus
This motion drawing is inspired by a girl holding a bundle of balloons at the end of the circus show that I saw the day before.
The animation export gave me a little bit of unexpected trouble due to very high spatial resolution (4K+) caused by importing an earlier vector drawing from Ai.

Zoppe circus
This is the first circus I remember I attended, during which I did some very quick sketches.

Idea, execution, and persuasion
Having good ideas is important, but to carry them out one needs to either execute by oneself or convince others to join the efforts.
This is why I believe a top research scientist cannot hurt to have top engineering and leadership skills.

Visual impression of a druggie
A few years back while walking to work from San Jose Diridon station I saw a guy sitting on the ground jerking his head with eyes and mouth wide open, in some drug-induced trance.
This is an attempt to depict what I saw that day.

Dinner sketch
Instead of carrying a large drawing pad (analog or digital) around, an alternative is to draw multiples on a small surface (e.g., a pocket sketch book or a cell phone like a moto-x4 I currently have) and assemble them together later on a large surface (e.g., a large canvas or an iPad).
The initial small sketches can serve as a visual memory in the minimum, and may constitute a significant portion of the final composition.

Judy Chicago smoke performance
I visited the de Young Museum for the first time to see the Judy Chicago retrospective.
She has worked on a very diverse set of mediums, such as drawings, paintings, glasses, ceramics, fabrics, smokes, and her messages are quite clear/direct compared to other modern artists’.
